Youth Facility Design
Background
Gateway Church is a Bible-based, evangelistic, Spirit-empowered church located in North Richland Hills, Texas. The building is almost 50,000 square feet in size and sits on approximately nine acres. This regional campus is a multi-purpose facility with an emphasis on youth ministry.[1]
The Design
Gateway wanted to create an exciting and unique center for their youth. They needed a place that would attract youth to spend time on the church campus and as part of the larger community.
We created an entertainment center, equipped with a Wii-Tree (6 interlocking Nintendo Wii video game stations), several wall mounted PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game stations, and iPod listening kiosks. These were arranged to make the players feel part of the larger community, and encouraged interaction with youth at surrounding stations and the rest of the hall.
