Custom Broadcast Set

Background

Gloucester High School is a fully accredited public high school located in Gloucester County, Virginia. It has an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students.^[1]

 

The Design

Gloucester was referred to us by another broadcast client. The Director of Gloucester Community Education saw the value of vocational training at the high school level and wanted us to design a set that they could use to train students to become broadcast producers, camera operators, lighting designers, stage hands, editors and talent. Because of their experience, these students would be better prepared for their college degree, or go directly from high school into the broadcast field if they so desired.

One of the biggest challenges facing us was the size of the room. We only had a 12' x 25' space to work with. With this consideration in mind, we designed multi-functional set that included a news desk, interview area, and weather area, as well as lighting design. The set finishes included laminates, perforated metals and frosted acrylics.
